Campaigns

One of the aims of the Citizens Advice service is to "exercise a responsible influence on the development of social policies and services, both locally and nationally." This means that we talk to Government, local councils and other policy makers to help them improve the laws and services that affect ordinary people.

At CPCAB we support this aim in a number of ways.

Working with Government, companies, regulators, trade associations and consumer groups, Citizens Advice policy work has secured many changes including:

420,000 pensioners will no longer face unexpected tax debts, which has arisen because HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) had failed to properly collect tax on small occupational pensions.

7,000,000 children will benefit from our campaigning work on school costs.

28,000 people per year will benefit from our work to persuade the Office of Communication (OFCOM) to take action on mobile phone mis-selling and cashbacks.
